2008

The Welsh Heads of Trading Standards, in partnership with Consumer Direct Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government's 'Visit Wales' (formerly the Wales Tourist Board), is today launching its first Wales Consumer Awareness Week which will this year focus on holidays.

It will offer people the opportunity to find out more about initiatives such as Visit Wales' new harmonised grading scheme, as well as general advice and information on choosing your holiday, your rights as a consumer, the protection you have if you buy a package holiday either in this country or abroad and how to complain should you need to. It is also hoped the week-long event will highlight and improve awareness for businesses issues such as the need and cost effectiveness of handling complaints reasonably, quickly and efficiently.

Dyma’r wythnos gyntaf i’w chynnal yng Nghymru sydd yn delio gyda materion defnyddwyr, ac mae Penaethiaid Safonau Masnach Cymru, mewn partneriaeth gyda Cyswllt Defnyddwyr Cymru a Croeso Cymru (yr hen Fwrdd Twristiaeth) sydd yn ran o Lywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru, yn rhedeg wythnos benodol ar y thema “Gwyliau” o 18 Awst.
Bydd hyn yn cynnig y cyfle i bobl ddarganfod mwy am fentrau fel y cynlluniau cydgordio system graddio Croeso Cymru, yn ogystal â’r wybodaeth a chyngor fydd ar gael ar ddewis eich gwyliau, eich hawliau fel defnyddiwr, y diogelwch sydd ganddoch wrth brynu gwyliau pecyn, naill ai yn y wlad yma neu dramor, ac hefyd sut i gwyno os fydd angen.
Y gobaith hefyd yw y bydd y digwyddiadau dros yr wythnos yn amlygu a gwella ymwybyddiaeth busnesau am yr angen a’r gost-effeithiolrwydd o ymdrin a chwynion yn rhesymol, yn sydyn ac yn effeithiol.
